Henry's father died when Henry was 51. Susannah had died 6 years before. When the property was put up for sale, Henry wrote an ad describing the property in the same proud tone he had used with his drawing. "This place has been long and deservedly celebrated for its conveniences and elegance, being possibly the most delightful spot which the banks of the Hudson afford...Hudson's river flows within fifty yards of the door and the terrene in front of the house is shaded with aged locusts, and is particularly fine."
