W. Stephen Thomas was an advocate for the authorship of his great grandfather, Henry Livingston. Stephen found his most enthusiastic convert in Henry Noble MacCracken, the president of Vassar. MacCracken wrote an entire chapter on the topic, and his opinions of Moore were devastating.
