LUCILLE MULHALL, GIRL CHAMPION COWPUNCHER,
PREPARING TO BREAK ALL RECORDS

Chicago Sunday Daily Tribune, 22 Nov 1903

Miss Lucille Mulhall, who recently won a $10,000 prize in a steer roping contest at South McAlester, I. T., is preparing to break all records at roping and tying a wild steer. Her best performances so far was that given before President Roosevelt at Cheyenne, Wyo., when she tied a steer in twenty-eight seconds. She declares she is determined to break the world's record and "make it so fast no one will ever lower it." She is confident she can tie a steer in eighteen seconds.

Miss Mulhall is 18 years old, and is the daughter of "Zack" Mulhall, a well known Oklahoma ranch owner and railroad official. She began roping calves when she scarcely was able to sit in the saddle, and her father encouraged her, believing she could get no better exercise.
