Days of Sun and Moon
Patricia Morse-McNeely

Remember, O remember
emptyThose days when we were free
emptyWith all the world before us
emptyWhen you were young with me
empty(Long days of sun and moon,
emptyGolden happiness, sweet-salted,
emptyGone away too soon.)

night bird

Remember, O remember
emptyDesperate growing years
emptyWhen life was swiftly flowing
emptyOn laughter and our tears?
empty(Warm days of sun and moon,
emptyGolden happiness, sweet-salted,
emptyGone away too soon.)

Remember, O remember
emptyNow we are growing old
emptyThe poignant wild promises
emptyWhen bells of war were tolled?
empty(Deep days of sun and moon,
emptyGolden happiness, sweet-salted,
emptyGone away too soon.)

Remember, O remember
emptyWe whispered as we wept
emptyWith lips murmuring mad vows,
emptyLong-lost and never kept?
empty(Lost days of sun and moon,
emptyGolden happiness, sweet-salted,
emptyGone away too soon.)

Remember, O remember
emptyWhen your day's work is done,
emptyAnd love me just a little
emptyBeneath Life's setting sun --
empty(Lost days of sun and moon,
emptyGolden happiness, sweet-salted,
emptyGone, alas, too soon.)
