SAVED BY A SADDLE HORN
An 'Outlaw' Rushed Lucille Mulhall at the Independence Fair

The Iola Register, 2 Sep 1909

Kansas City, Sept. 2.-
Lucille Mulhall, daughter of Col. Zach Mulhall, proprietor of the Wild West show, was injured while riding a performing horse at the Independence fair yesterday. "Johnny on the Spot," an equine outlaw, whom no one has ever been able to ride, was also in the ring. The devil seems to have ented into "Johnny on the Spot." Without any apparent reason he dashed savagely at the orse the girl was riding.

The shock of sudden contact threw her horses off his feet. He rolled completely over on the ground, with the girl under him. She picked herself up and limped out of the ring. The salle she was riding had a big inflexible horn, which rose several inches above the seat. It is believed that this saved her life. Colonel Mulhall said that his daughter was badly bruised, and would be retired from the ring for several days.
