A cowboy named John Murray came to Reed's assistance and was shot in the chest by Mulhall. The wounded men were taken to the
World's Fair emergency hospital and Mulhall was lodged in jail. Reed, Morgan and Murray are dangerously wounded and will probably die.

Dispute with Boss Hostler at World's Fair
Likely to Result in Three Deaths
Mulhall in Jail
El Paso Herald, 20 Jun 1904
St. Louis, June 1q9.-
Colonel Zack Mulhall, of Fort Worth, Tex., had trouble with Frank Reed, a boss hostler at Cummins' Wild West shows at the
World's Fair before the show Saturday. After the show last evening the trouble was renewed and Mulhall pulled a sixshooter, emptying it
at Reed. One ball entered his chest, another grazed his neck and hit an innocent bystander, named Charles Morgan, in the stomach.
