Farm Produce
Decatur Review, 25 Nov 1926

Some twenty years ago a young cowboy packed his ropes and "chaps" at Mulhasll ranch, near Guthrie, Okla., and boarded train for New York to take part in a Wild West show that was to open in Madison Square Garden. Lately a world traveler, famed humorist and comedian stopped for a short visit at Mulhall ranch. Will Rogers had returned to his starting point for the first time in more than a decade. Col. Zack Mulhall, who had started the wanderer on his way, was there to greet him.

Colonel Mulhall asked his distinguished visitor and erstwhile comploye where he would have been, but for that early start, and the king of entertainers replied:

"I reckon I'd be making a lot of corn over at Claremore, and those people all over the world wouldn't have been bothered."

The demand for Will Rogers' time exceeds the supply. Few farmers can become entertainers, perhaps no more. Their problem, however, is to produce things in demand. There is too much cotton and corn. More milk and meat are wanted. It is a far fetched illustration, but it is a suggestion of the farmers' troubles.
