Edith Layton is an award-winning author of Regency Romance
and Historical Romance novels. Her site
consists of a mammoth 90 pages of information about her, her books and what lies
behind her books.
The navigation of this site is very clear. A small icon at the top right of each
page pops you down to the navigation bars. At the
top level, there is a navigation
bar of icons that direct you to the main divisions. At the
book level, the
top level navigation bar is reduced in size and importance and a new navigation
bar devoted to her novels and short stories becomes the dominant navigation device.
Because of sheer size, a
map lists all the pages of
the site. All, that is, except for the Butterfly Reflections which are
meant to be discovered by clicking on a
butterfly.
The few animations used in the site are appropriate to their context --
butterflies, a
hummingbird, and an
artist painting one of Edith's covers.
And, finally, there is a
guestbook in which Edith's friends and fans can
stop for a moment to read what others have to say and to
leave their own impressions
of the site.
